The sequence of events is contained in a document from the Ministry of Justice, written at the time of Jacob Chansley’s guilty plea. In this statement of offense, we learn that “police officer KR” met the shaman on several occasions, followed him on some of his excursions, but ordered him to leave the premises at least four times. Jacob Chansley, who “was one of the first 30 rioters inside the United States Capitol“, never responded favorably to these requests.
For example, shortly after entering the Capitol at 2:16 p.m., “On the second floor, the defendant and other rioters were met by a line of Capitol Police officers, who asked them to leave the building peacefully. The defendant challenged Capitol Police officer KR to let them through, then used his megaphone to stir up the crowd and demand that lawmakers exit the building.” A version corroborated by the images recovered by the New York Timess inside the Capitol. The scene takes place at the 21st minute of this videowhere the shaman is recognizable at the bottom, near the door.
