It was indeed neighbors who warned the police around 9:15 p.m. of shots fired in a three-storey building used by the community of Jehovah’s Witnesses, in the Gross Borstel district, north of the city. The German Press Agency thus reports that a local resident claimed to have seen a man, dressed in dark, walking frantically in the stairwell of the building.
“There were about four periods of firing. During these periods, several shots were always fired, about 20 seconds to one minute apart”for his part described Lara Bauch, also a resident of the district, to the media Picture. “I heard gunshots, I approached the window to take a picture of the situation, I saw a man with a gun shooting through the window”said Gregor Miesbach, another resident, who filmed the scene for him.
“I didn’t realize what exactly was going on. I was filming with my cell phone and only realized through the zoom that someone was shooting at the Jehovah’s witnesses. While I was filming, I understood what was happening”, he added. His footage shows a man outside who appears to be shooting inside the center, before entering the building.
