Ledger customer data hackers identified and in jail
The cases caused a stir when they were revealed in late 2020 (first hack) and early 2021 (second leak). This was in particular due to risks incurred by the Ledger customers – phishing already, but especially for those whose home has leaked (burglary or homejacking).
According to information revealed by TheBigWhale and picked up by Bitcoin.frTHE two defendants of the first hack would in fact already be known and arrested since a while.
The first is a 22-year-old Austrian living in California, “Tassilo H.”. He would have been detained as early as January 2021 (in the United States therefore). The second, Davide M., is a 28-year-old Portuguese man. Although arrested in Portugal, he was handed over to the French authorities a few months ago, in November 2022. The latter was indicted and remanded in custody in France. These two arrests therefore concern the first hackwhich occurred in April 2020.
The two accomplices would have succeeded in contacting three Filipino subcontractors of the e-commerce platform Shopify to accomplish their misdeed. It is through the latter that the manufacturer of the Ledger Nano S and X went to sell its hardware wallets. As to second data leak hacker in June 2020, Nothing has not yet been revealed.
