New cyclonic bomb in the United States an impressive phenomenon

But if the nickname of this storm – and the devastated landscapes it leaves behind – may seem spectacular, this phenomenon is not so rare. At the beginning of the year, already, a “cyclonic bomb” had covered the city of Boston under 60 cm of snow. And in 2019, a storm of this category disrupted transportation on the eve of Thanksgiving. In fact, there are even about 18 “cyclonic bombs” per yearaccording to the results of a study conducted in 2021. By analyzing a period of 40 years, the researcher Robert Fritzen had indeed revealed that nearly 7% of all non-tropical storms affecting North America were “cyclonic bombs”.

A phenomenon that is no less singular. Especially when it comes to upset the Christmas holidays for millions of Americans.
