Last week, a Florida resident announced she was suing the pharmaceutical company, claiming the infection that led to the removal of her eye was linked to the use of her eye drops. His attorney, Natasha Cortes, specifically blames the infection on a lack of preservatives in the eye solution. According to her, “there are probably many more people infected without knowing it”. According to Statista, a market research company, eye drops and solutions were used by about 117 million Americans in 2020.
Note that a few days ago, the FDA issued separate recall notices for certain eye drops products distributed by two other brands, Pharmedica and Apotex, after the latter announced that they had spontaneously pulled them from the shelves.
