Breathe deeply

When you stress, certain hormonal secretions (especially adrenaline and cortisol) are stimulated, your ideas are no longer clear and you can even sometimes have memory lapses.

If you find yourself in this state, focus on your breathing, it is an effective and fairly quick way to reduce stress. Here is a good exercise:

  • Sit in a comfortable position with your hands on your knees, and your feet on the floor.
  • Close your eyes
  • Imagine yourself in a place of relaxation
  • breathe slowly
  • Do it for 5 to 10 minutes


To relax, you can try different techniques. Self-hypnosis is a good example, you can do it anytime. Focus on a word or phrase that has a positive meaning.

You can also recite mantras like:

I say “yes” to simplicity, I feel safe everywhere

Laughing lightens my load, All is well in the best of worlds

I did well. I don’t need to be perfect

I am calm, like a quiet force

I know how to let go and it makes me feel good

If you find it hard to relax at first, don’t worry, that’s normal.

Relaxation is an exercise that develops with practice. If you feel stressed, your muscles contract. Consider stretching or getting a massage to release tension. Good bedding is also essential for your comfort.

Keep a stress diary

To avoid stressful situations and develop coping mechanisms, you can keep a stress diary. Note the date, time and location of each stressful episode.

Also write down what you were doing, who you were with, and how you felt both physically and emotionally. Then rate each episode on a scale of 1 to 10. Now you can use your diary to understand stress triggers and avoid them.

Sleep well

Do you sleep but don’t feel like you’re resting? Make sure your bedroom is a safe haven without anything that could trigger your worries.

Avoid stimulants (caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, etc.) in the evening. Take a nice relaxing shower, read a soothing book, and do your best to relax your body.

Take a hot herbal tea and try to go to bed at the same time every day, so your body and your mind get used to a routine.


It’s a big word but you can apply it simply thanks to this little magic exercise:

Imagine yourself on a beach (which is close to your heart or that you imagine). You are alone and you walk so close to the sea that some waves come right up to your feet. The waves, the view of the sea, the sky and the warm sensations of the place will allow you to relax a little more.

Do anti-stress activities

Do things you enjoy, it will help relieve your stress and improve your mood. To clear your mind, you can try going for a walk, visiting a friend, reading a good book, watching a movie, or listening to soft music.

Here are some other activity ideas:

  • Draw, color, paint or play a musical instrument
  • Play sports
  • Make jewelry, knit, or do embroidery
  • Play with children or pets (outdoors if possible)
  • Create your own perfume, cream, soap…
  • To do yoga
  • gardening

Try to find your rhythm and make your activity a regular practice. You will be amazed at how much better you will quickly feel.
