Alexei Moskalev’s detention has been lifted, but he remains under house arrest and has no contact with his daughter. Young Masha was visited by a representative of the OVD-Info association, which tries to inform and support victims of political persecution in Russia. A local elected official named Olga Podolskaya, for her part, repeatedly sought to meet the teenager. She has presented herself several times to the center where she is being held, without being able to talk to her. During its third passage, the doors of this institution are even remained closed. The 13-year-old Russian would be deprived of a telephone and of all contact with her relatives, starting with her father.
He is now waiting a future judgment : the media evoked a few weeks ago the risk of a substantial prison sentence, of the order of 3 years if he was found guilty of denigrating the armed forces. He could also lose his parental rights.
Quite discreet, the Russian authorities explain that “the child is being prepared to resume normal educational activities” while a “search is underway to find his mother”. According to the social services argument justifying this forced separation, Masha Moskalev would not have gone to school for a long time and, “during this period, his father did not make contact with the teaching staff”. A reason justifying, for the authorities, that the police “looking at the situation of this family, and not because of the drawing made at school”.
