At the same time, for eleven days without interruption – unheard of – the American and South Korean armed forces will participate in around twenty operations, in real conditions, as part of an additional program called “Warrior Shield”. “The exercises will include field training on the Korean Peninsula, the aim of which is to enhance military cooperation between the two countries in the air, on land, at sea, in space, in cyberspace and in the special operations”says the South Korean newspaper The Korea Times.
The program for these eleven days of training includes an amphibious landing by the Marine Corps of the two countries (Ssangyong, which means “double dragon” in Korean) and joint operations carried out by their Special Forces (Teak Knife, “teak knife ” in French), details theYonhap agency. A Nimitz-class aircraft carrier and Aegis destroyers as well as a submarine equipped with Tomahawk guided missiles are also expected on the Korean peninsula for these joint exercises.
