Investigation for corruption in the European Parliament MEP Eva Kaili

The European public prosecutor’s office on Thursday requested the lifting of the parliamentary immunity of two Greek MEPs, including Eva Kaili, currently imprisoned in an alleged corruption case involving Qatar. This request is based on an investigation, separate from that concerning Qatar, carried out by the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) relating to the use of parliamentary allowances and in particular the remuneration of assistants, specified the prosecution in a brief statement. The other elected official targeted is Maria Spyraki, member of the European People’s Party (European right).
