A popular destination before the pandemic, the Finnish town of Rovaniemi, in Lapland, which is home to the official Santa Claus village, is pleased to see the return of tourists… in numbers! The region is even on the way to setting a new attendance record. According to official figures, 63,000 people are expected in December, at least 2,000 more than in 2019, the year of the last record.
Travelers from all over the world flock there in search of the magic of the end of the year celebrations. And here, the polar cold is a godsend, as British tourist Chris explains: “I’ve never been cold like this before and really, really enjoyed the experience. It helps get into the Christmas spirit.”
